Should hire an SEO Company for your Home Business (Continued)
.................Continued from Previous Page
.....You should realize up front that Search Engine Optimization is ever-evolving as the big 3
search engines modify or completely overhaul their "algorithm" and new rules are applied to the process.
For example, ten years ago your site was primarily indexed based on meta tags and bold text,
while the engines did not even measure the "link popularity" or the incoming backlinks.
Nowadays the meta tags are largely unimportant and the imortance of link popularity is paramount.
An SEO firm is thus more likely to be knowledgable about the search engine's than someone "in-house".
After all, if your car breaks down you can read user manuals and eventually figure out how to fix it,
but hiring a professional to do the job is generally easier and less time consuming.
Hiring a professional is more expensive but time is money and the preofessional will save you that precious time.
However, hiring SEO prefessionals may in fact be outside of the budget of your home business venture, especially early on, and it is in fact possible to do this job yourself
with reasonable effectiveness, especially if your targeted keywords are not too competitive.
The first thing to do is market research. Let us say, for sake of discussion, that your home based business enterprise sells candles and other related arts & crafts.
You would initially wish to do some research regarding other related websites which have the prime spots on the big-3 search engines.
Next you could do a check on a free resource like linkpopularity.com to find out about how many relevant links
from related sites that they have pointing to them. This will give you a basic idea about how many backlinks that your site will in turn require, though not exactly.
You could also use the search bid suggestion tool over at Overture or a similiar resource (just do a search at your favorite search engine) to find out about the smaller keywords as well.
It may be better to target these smaller keywords if the big ones seem overly competitive.
