The Importance of Leads
A crucial part of your overall home business strategy will be to generate a steady stream of qualified leads. Keeping leads flowing into your "pipeline" will be one of the most important aspects of your overall business plan,
if not the most important. This will be very true if your home business is of the multi-level marketing variety. You simply need a lot of leads constantly coming in since sales and recruiting is largely a numbers game.
There are a variety of different ways you can obtain new leads for your business. The simplest way is to simply buy lists of leads that pertain to your industry. Many companies provide this service, and you can obtain leads relating to almost any given field. Each lead generally costs between one and five dollars, depending on several factors, including how fresh the lead is.
These leads normally come with an assortment of information such as full name, address, phone number, e-mail address and interest level. The trick here is to make sure these particular leads are from a good source. Sometimes internet
acquired leads are inferior if there is an incentive to fill out the form such as a freebie. This can be the wrong motivation to fill out such a form and thus the leads are less than ideal. And often internet forms are filled out by youngsters for fun.
This is actually a major problem so always find out exactly how the leads are generated. Make sure to how fresh the leads in question are and if you will have exclusive rights to them. If you don't have excusivity with the leads, find out how many other individuals or companies will also be given access to them. Generally it should be no more than three.
Another way to obtain leads is thru networking. Various business networking groups and/or organizations are common
in just about every city in the country. Whether it be via your city or state economic development
departments, Chamber of Commerces or private initiatives,
the structure is in place. And perhaps most local newspapers publish meeting dates for various interest groups.
You really should be an active participant in these networking meetings.
Although networking can really take
place anywhere, certain environments are
better for building a productive network than others. Business
meetings definately fall into this category. The key with leads is to always follow up. Remember, you may need to follow up several times before you can close the deal.
After making your initial presentation, you must follow up to
answer any questions or objections, then you can close the sale or the sign-up.
