The importance of content to your Home Business websiteThe most important component of any home business website is the content. As a general rule of thumb, the more content your website has, the better the search engines will like it. Content is also a necessity for your site because it gives your visitors a reason to come back. Creating multiple pages of content that link back to your homepage is important because each of those pages adds to your overall link popularity and therefore your pagerank. Furthermore, an abundance of good content will give your home business site credibility. From a promotional standpoint, good content is the top reason for search engine ranking success. Website Content and Search Engine Rankings It appears that when a search engine spider visits your site and follows all the links, it determines the structure of the site from it's content links. IF your site is deemed a content rich site the relevency of the site is increased. The algorithms of each individual search engine are slightly different but ultimately they all reward good content. They are in the business of delivering relevent, informational sites to their search customers, not just promotional or ad sites, so you are simply giving them what they want. Writing articles that relate to your sites topic is very effective because you are considered an expert in that field simply because you publish a website on that particular subject. If your website is about your cattle ranch in Oklahoma, for instance, you could write an article entitled "The secrets of ranching in Oklahoma" or something along those lines. You could write an article on almost any imaginable subject, whether your site is a Las Vegas or Reno gambling site, a South Dakota fly fishing site, or a San Francisco based home decoration business. In addition to adding content to your own home business site, you can also add incoming links to your site because there are numerous other content provider sites on the internet that are looking for articles on your subject. Find those sites and submit your articles to them. In return you get a "resource box" or by-line with which to add you sites link and thus increase your link popularity and traffic. Another way to add content to your website is to add a blog. A blog is basically a web log, and is similiar to a forum or a message board. Blogs provide good additional content and focus attention to areas of your home business site that you want to showcase; you direct the content but let your readers guide you. Generally with a blog a reader can post a comment, review, or a suggestion about your site. This creates ongoing content, since you will eventually have a a blog archive. Search Engine spiders will notice new content each time they visit your site. Blogs will also help your image as they are considered new and cutting edge, although they have been existence for number of years. To create a blog for your site, you can use a program like Dreamweaver or a free service such as Blogger.
